PERSONNEL

Physical Therapy treatment is provided by our therapists who are all certified by the Physiotherapy Board of Trinidad & Tobago. Ms. Karyanne Beddoe and Ms. Jacinta Flores, our front office personnel are experienced in customer care and ensure that all clients are greeted with warmth and respect. We make every effort to schedule appointments in a way that accommodates the schedules of our clients.

Terry Romero, PT, DPT, CEAS

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Terry Romero possesses over 40 years’ experience in physical therapy and received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Hunter College, NY in 1974. In 2015, she completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Alabama State University. 
Commencing as a staff therapist at the Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, she quickly rose to the position of Chief Physical Therapist and Clinical Instructor to Medical Students of New York Medical College.  She was also a clinical affiliate of the Ithaca College School of Physical Therapy and is experienced in several different clinical settings in Physical Therapy. These areas include woundcare and burn rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation, stroke and neurological rehabilitation, orthopaedic physical therapy and workplace ergonomic assessment. She is a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist and has also provided ergonomic assessments and training both locally and internationally. One of the highlights of her career has been to provide an ergonomic assessment and training program voluntarily to the International Labour Organization (ILO) in China in 2010

Dr. Romero’s wealth of knowledge and vast experience in all areas of movement dysfunction has been invaluable to our fellow therapists and physical therapy clients. Her focus on continued learning, providing best practice application of clinical skills, and her genuine concern for the well-being of our clients has earned Physical Therapy Associates the reputation of a facility where clients receive highly skilled and professional rehabilitative care.
Dr. Romero is an active member of the Physical Therapy Association of Trinidad & Tobago believes in the concepts of total wellness and physical therapy as a mission of service. When not volunteering her time in the community with the  St. Vincent de Paul Prison’s ministry at Youth Training and Rehabilitation Centre (YTC),, she enjoys exercising, reading, gardening and spending time with her family.

Leon Jr Romero

Director/ Consultant

Dr. Leon Romero is a member of our board of directors and brings a wealth of experience to our organization.
Dr. Romero brings to the table a total of 14 years clinical experience in physical therapy across multiple settings that include Electrodiagnostic testing, Acute Care rehabilitation, Inpatient rehabilitation, Aquatic therapy and Outpatient rehabilitation. 
He is the founder of companies Synapse EMG Services and Physical Therapy Pros, LLC. and currently practices as an electromyographer and physical therapist in Snellville, Georgia USA.
Dr. Romero received his bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Andrews University in 1997. He completed a Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of North Georgia in 2005 and subsequently completed his Doctor of Science in Clinical Electrophysiology in 2016 at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah. 
He is recertified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (2008, 2018) and internationally, is one of the few physical therapists in the world who is Board Certified (2013) as a specialist in Clinical Electrophysiology (currently numbered at 179). 
Dr. Romero is a former professional cricket player who has represented Trinidad & Tobago and the United States of America both regionally and internationally. His present areas of interest include research in Clinical Electrophysiology, innovative treatment approaches in Orthopedic and Sports rehabilitation, and business strategy in the changing healthcare market.

Kassika Johnson

Physical Therapist

Ms. Kassika Johnson obtained her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
Kassika was born in Jamaica, but her enthusiasm for an early start to her PT career brought her to Trinidad in 2016, where she began her journey with Physical Therapy Associates Limited.  She has excellent skills in neurology, pulmonary rehabilitation and orthopaedics. Her love for the elderly is manifested in the gentle way that she interacts with her clients and the genuine concern she shows for their well-being. Kassika’s future goal is to specialize in Geriatric Physical Therapy

Oriana Blackwood

Physical Therapist

Ms. Oriana Blackwood graduated from the University of the West Indies (Mona) class of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Her love for the Sciences in school and her passion for sports led her to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. Her future goal is to further her knowledge in Physical Therapy and to attain a Masters in Sports Therapy. Oriana desires to see great progress in the development of sport; not only in her home country of Jamaica, but in the Caribbean as well.  She hopes that with continued education and the understanding of the important role that physical therapy plays in promoting movement and a healthy lifestyle; sedentary living within the populations will be a thing of the past.

Karyanne Beddoe

Receptionist 

Ms. Kary-Anne Beddoe has been a receptionist with Physical Therapy Associates since 2016 and has brought to the Company 30 years of knowledge and experience in customer care from her previous job as a Flight attendant with BWIA and Caribbean Airlines.  Clients always remark how comfortable she makes them feel when she speaks to them on the phone or welcomes them at the office. Kary-Anne takes pride in facilitating the efficient and productive flow of clients throughout the day and never gets flustered when schedules become mixed up or if clients need extra attention in sorting out their paper work.
Kary Anne enjoys baking delicious treats for her family and friends, reading, swimming and raising her three children.

Jacinta Flores

Receptionist 

Ms. Jacinta Flores has been a receptionist with Physical Therapy Associates since January of 2017.  She has a work history of 20 years with Scotia Bank in the Foreign Exchange and Accounting Departments and demonstrates excellent Customer Care. Jacinta’s hobby is singing and she was a member of her family parang group San Jose Serenaders.  She is presently a member of the parang band Nuestra Cosa. She is one of the two receptionists who manage the front office and many clients have reported that her voice and caring  tone in communicating with them have made them feel at immediately ease.
